In honor of my grandfather and the rest of the heroes who serve our country. I am rememering this Vetern's Day 2008 a man that I looked up to and miss very much. It has been 8 years since he has passed and think of him often. My daughter carries his name as her middle name even though she has no idea whom he was. After he passed we had to move my grandmother to Assisted living and while we were cleaning out her closets we came accross an old Christmas card box that was filled with a wonderful surprise. We had a box full of pictures from 1949 when my grandfather was in the Navy. His name was Aubrey Thomas Greer and was aboard the USS LST846 and was sent off May 1049. He has pictures of the ship and ship mates and even the war going on itself. I being a scrapboker has gotten the privilege of putting these pictures into an album to keep them preserved. I hope I can come across in my research some of his shipmates that are still alive that can enlighten me on what some of these pictures are of. He didn't write much on the photos, but I do have some that he has written on that I can go by in research. I as well as my family will always be thankful of the men and women that serve out country.
